It would have been comical, the way Alphonse react to the cub, if I did not know that this would end in bloodshed if he got his way. The man was tense as the little girl inquired over his anger, and mentioned what Montego had claimed of the upset mind. I let a small smile break forth as the child came and wound around my limbs. I was young, but I was old enough to have some paternal instincts. I allowed myself to give her a gentle nudge of assurance as an answer to her 'halo of joy' expression. I would help her, I decided. It went against my vows to turn a back on Alphas, but I couldn't take what this child had.
Even if the very man I planned to spare had taken from my dear Noelle.
I flashed an expression to Alphonse, who had remained silent in all of these, merely watching the child in disgust. Her was playing at tolerance, and the only way for him to do so was to simply not speak. Oh no, I would not let this beast harm Symphony because I knew he would surely go to avenge his mother, too. To take the father model this girl had was something I would not stand. I knew what it was like to lose a father, I would not make Verona lose her's twice.
"Oh yes, I will help you." I whispered the words quietly, perhaps not even loud enough for Zero, whom had taken a stand beside me, to hear. Then again, maybe she could. I didn't really care.
I said I for a reason. I would help this child, even if no one else here would.
