True Name: Rafiki
New Name: Dio
Reason for New Name: When he passed away and took on the responsibilities of illegal pet trade victum's, he was given the name Dio, which means God or Higher Power.
Age: Unknown
Gender: Male
Species: Baboon
Personality: Dio is a deep thinking, meditator type. He is very spiritual, even before he himself was a spirit. He thinks through everything before taking a step, not even the tiniest detail passing his orbs without notice. He is very compassionate and defensive, courage also being something he does not lack. Dio has lost his faith in himself, however, and faith in his mission. With the addition of the Folami, it seems his followers have only been able to move backwards. He is a broken man with little heart left. He no longer speaks to those mortals that look to him for guidance. Perhaps he is selfish, but he loaths himself so it does not matter. The man is no longer a god, just another being with no power to change anything.
History: Born in Africa, as all wild Baboons are, Dio was given the name Rafiki. He lived the average childhood, a mother and head male that cared for him very much, as well as other family members that would die for him. He had an all around peaceful childhood, very few things worth mentioning.
But in his middle ages he witnessed a scene that would play out his entire life thereafter. Creatures he'd only heard rumors of, Murder Apes, invaded his Troops section of forest. They had no desire to capture Rafiki's species, so his troop pain little notice. However, Rafiki was intrigued by these creatures and would often spend days away from his troop so he could watch them.
It was one of these mini spying trips he took that he saw the true nature of the seemingly docile Murder Ape. Fires were lit, adult felines beaten, and cubs placed in crates. None of the captured cats had thumbs, so no hope of opening the lock. This is where Rafiki came in.
Each night he'd release the cubs, bringing the ones who still had living parents back home, and finding adoptive parents for those who had had their parents mercilessly beaten. The world he had loved had suddenly grown so dark.
It was one of these raids that stole his life. He was a ripe old age at this point and unable to move as fast as he once had. A Murder Ape spotted him and cornered him, snearing in cold pleasure. Unable to escape, Rafiki could only watch as the club was risen and then dropped down on him multiple times. Beaten to death he was.
But his story did not end there, unlike all the others of the world. He continued his rescues even after death, lending his invisinble hands to give others the boost to do what he had in life. That is what he has been doing for so many years now, guiding and protecting those who loyally follow him, and the ones who fail to realize he exists.
As time continued, Dio came to realize that without paws on land, there is no hope for his guiding to shine through. This is why he carefully chose the four Peace Leaders. In addition to this, he begot a daughter, Ahlam, through a raped female. And finally, with the coming of the Folami, Dio rose one death swallowed soul to be an equal to himself, Skoll. With Skoll trying to lead the Folami's to sunshine, Dio can focus his attention on his daughter and Peace Leader's.
After watching Bhuyana lose faith and go to Bokor, and forseeing the aproaching death of Anabi and Ahlam, Dio has lost his faith in the mission, The world is full of sin and he has accepted he can't, nor can any god, do anything to change that.
