as will be in my books/short stories. This is all relating to Earth - the continuum on Earth is different from other continuums.
The four different places/situations:
five factions
Arding
ivy house
Cordevair
ARDING is a single giant town or tiny city. Or something. It's not really known what size it is; you could possibly find it on a map but only if you were looking - and then you'd probably lose track of it again. By its very nature people outside if it kind of go 'what' and forget about it. It is a town where anyone and anything is welcome.
It has its own government based off of the US's democratic one (as that's where it's located). It consists of multiple counties, streets, and neighborhoods, some of which are North Court, Fae County, South Wind, Sundance Row, and more.
The shelters are all no-kill (ALL of them), and there's actually some shelters that are specific to more... unusual... animal-like creatures.
The weirdness is never really mentioned. It's sort of like anything supernatural or paranormal is just brushed aside. They're used to weird in the place, and people like Arding because it's different. Accepting.
The law force consists of multiple species; in fact, everything does. Arding actually does its best to make sure it doesn't sway towards one side or another in any set. Arding is NEUTRAL TERRITORY, which means the weather can get a little weird (no guidance for it) and anyone could live there if they so choose.
The FIVE FACTIONS consist of: the ardumen, the humans (who have no idea about this, except for some), the "miscellaneous", the fae, and the non-humans.
Alliances are between the "miscellaneous", non-humans, and fae. The ardumen refuse to ally themselves with anyone and the humans just have no idea about this.
Non-humans are pretty much human in every way except for a few differences. Their blood is made of a different substance and some factors in their DNA are different. It's as if they're from another realm, just misplaced. Which may be the case.
The fae consist of a whole crapton of creatures. Enchanted creatures, usually closely connected to nature. Think 'folklore' and you'll have it. Nymphs, faeries and fairies, fae-cats, etc. Varied but with a few things in common - for example, their nature-based magic. Always. nature. based. Most of them are weak around iron - iron is bad - but a couple of them are fine. There's some consistincies in there.
The "miscellaneous" category consists of things best described as "monsters". Tentacles, mutants with extra limbs, the whole nine miles. The 'weirdos' that really won't work anywhere else. They're creepy and disturbing because there is something seriously, seriously wrong with them. Ironically enough they can mate with any species, sort of like gods in... many religions @_0 0_@.
The ardumen are shape-shifter types. They can change form to any animal, without limit - mythical and non-mythical. They are not shape-shifters, however, in that their animallian abilities can be maintained in their regular form - without them ever gaining the appearance of these creatures (unlike the so-called 'nekos' or, as I prefer to refer to them, 'halfers' which often have a tail-and-ears set or something like that). They also tend to have small magics, while shape-shifters are naturally unmagical. Plus they can go from human to cat to dog to horse to unicorn to dragon to ant without breaking a sweat, within seconds of each other. No limits, no cooldown times, and the abilities are available in their regular form. Woo.
Humans are self-explanatory.
The Ivy House exists in one nice little town. It is a 'portal house', with set portals to the Unicorn Valley and Dragon Mountains and then shifting portals everywhere else. It attracts all sorts of creatures due to its nature, including beings not native to Earth. In the 1800s it was owned by a healer named Sierra Airrest, who healed all species. She was accused of being a witch but these never went through due to the great amount of protection she recieved for her kindness. She was actually turned into a tree right before she died, and is still an apple tree in the yard of the house.
Nobody lives in it because it grow highly magical. There's something protective about it, though most of the humans living in the town nearby it find it spooky and disturbing. Still, it's primarily a place of peace... and possibly a quick transport to places, if you can figure out the portals. Don't want to accidently end up on the moon.
The Cordevair family is an old family of mixed species. You name it, they've got it. From humans and werepyres to even creatures like ardumen, the Cordevair are filled with species. It's a weird family dynamic. Cordevairs are the only 'legendary' family that don't tip the balance of places towards a species. In fact, they help promote peace. They have a unique ranking, with humans being the ultimate peacekeepers - something which is extremely weird.
The species that is born is totally random and not dependant on parents. It's either a purebred child or a half-and-half (i.e. werepyre, ardumen and non-human, etc), never any more mixed than that. Which is super-weird.
So these are the major things on Earth, at least in the stories I write. There ya go. CONTINUUMS.
