Personality:
Malcolm wants to be the center of attention in any group of people, and feels uncomfortable when he is not. While often lively, interesting and sometimes dramatic, he has difficulty when people aren't focused exclusively on him. Malcolm may be perceived as being shallow, and may engage in sexually seductive or provocating behavior to draw attention to himself. Malcolm has an overwhelming need for admiration, and usually a complete lack of empathy toward others. He often believes he is of primary importance in everybody's life or to anyone he meets. Generally speaking, Malcom is often described as snobbish, disdainful, and patronizing.
Malcolm has difficulty achieving emotional intimacy in relationships. He may seek to control his partner through emotional manipulation or seductiveness on one level, whereas displaying a marked dependency on them at another level.
Malcolm has impaired relationships with same-sex friends because his 'glory-hog' interpersonal style may seem a threat to his friends' relationships. Malcolm also alienates friends with demands for constant attention. He often becomes depressed and upset when he is not the center of attention.
Malcolm craves novelty, stimulation, and excitement and has a tendency to become bored with routine. Malcolm is often intolerant of, or frustrated by, situations that involve delayed gratification, and his actions are often directed at obtaining immediate satisfaction. Although he often initiates a job or project with great enthusiasm, his interest may lag quickly.
Longer-term relationships may be neglected to make way for the excitement of new relationships.
But poor Malcolm has a solid excuse for his 'narcassistic tendencies'; he suffers from a severe case of Narcissistic and Histrionic Personality Disorder, brought up by his childhood of attention endulgedment.
What made them decide to escape?: He was released.
History:
Malcolm was born into a zoo in Germany; a zoo that, until then, had risen in fame simply for their success in breeding leopards and lioness', creating leopons. Malcolm was the first lipard to be born, and thus, a miracle amoung zoo industries. He was used for his first six months to be a show cat, getting pictures taken and being in constant contact with children and adults that traveled from around the world to see the planets one and only lipard.
Then, at six months, it all came crashing down. Since birth he had been the only one. But now, the zoo had a new litter of lipards born, this one consisting of four cubs, rather than one. This cats were the new stars, the first healthy litter. Malcolm was thrown by the wayside. But his brain had been programmed since birth that he was the only one in the world, the he was the only one to be adorned. This sudden neglect forced him over the edge.
Even being six months, and sickly small for even that age, his angry antics unnerved his keepers. They knew it was jealousy causing him to run rampant, and so they sold him to a household, in hopes he would, again, be given the attention he desired. At nine moons, he proved unwilling to behave for a single person household, and so his Murder Apes took pity and tossed him at the borders of a land they discovered to hold a pride of animals. It was Ende, a home of a good size pride. Malcolm stalks through, remaining the size of a young leopard, pretending he owns the pride. His tolerated, barely, but he knows they won't hurt him.
He is too fun a game piece to be disposed of.
