What made them decide to escape?: Fed Up.
History:
- Born into a breeding program in a zoo Gus was removed from his mother at birth and raised by hand by zoo keepers.
- never stayed with any one keeper for longer then a week, developing a grudge for all the people who abandoned him until the age of nine weeks.
- placed into an unviewable exhibit which housed animals to be used for breeding program. It was cramped and he hated it.
- at the young age of six months the boy was taken from the place for a routine vet examination. the people underestimated his strength due to his size and Gus broke free of them.
- he hid for a good three days while they searched for him, hungry and tired but not about to come out. He wouldn't break cover it was too risky. They would put him back in that too small place.
- in the end it was not a human that found him, but a female folami. Not knowing what the fuck she was Gus pleaded for her help and was rewarded for it.
- the women brought Gus back to her mate and two children out and away from the human place. he liked it out in the wild, their were stars in the sky now and he could breath without the reek of smoke in his nostrils.
- the two folami raised him as their own, and Gus quickly began to refer to them as mom and dad. He was thought alongside their two children, learning things through the view point of a folami though his parents were careful to take into consideration his much smaller size.
- by the time Gus was a year and a half old he was essentially a fully trained folami, despite his size and species. Even at this point the man still didn't know what folami actually were. He only knew Helena and Walter.
- which is why when man came to collect their lost prizes with better trained soldiers Gus lost his shit completely. This wasn't how folami were suppose to act! Walter and Helena had taught him better! but father gave an order and the children listened.
- The three of them got away wit heavy hearts, none of them knowing what had happened to their parents. Wilma began to blame Gus for it all as time went on, and though Andy defended him the clouded leopard slunk away into his own world.
- It was during these final formative six months that Gus withdrew into himself. He could do anything by himself and if he couldn't do it then it didn't need to be done. Andy stayed close at hand and was a good friend, but Gus had learned by that point that he could get by on his own, and thus out of guilt he carefully drew away from his brother.
- Wilma and Andy left him alone when he asked them to. Gus was done with being the cat. He wasn't folami even if he didn't know how to be anything else. He didn't want to get his siblings in trouble. So he told them to leave him alone. Maybe he was a bit harsh about it, but it had to be done. He still hopes Andy has forgiven him for just how mean he was. It was the only way.
- And so Gus was left on his own. He learned how to exist fully without a pack. It was horrible at first, but it got better. The loneliness never went away though, and the man became irritable and defensive in the silence.
