History: The girl was always a happy one, despite the awful reign of her father. Females were below males, and that was his stern mindset. Her brother, Ezhno, viewed as the father did--once weaned, the boy forgot who his siblings were. He even forgot which female was his own mother. This was how any male born under Mufa's reign were, seeing as the only male figure they had to follow an example of was him. Though none so extreme as the perfect brother, Ezhno.
There was a ritual in the pride that males would be kicked out after six months, but Ezhno was permitted to stay. It was clear Mufa had every intention for his favored son to be the future king. Though the little brute never acknowledged Yana, his sister always supported him. She believed he could do it.
Now, the two had shared a little with another little boy--Yana's best friend, Jandin. Unlike any other male born of Mufa, this boy adored those of female gender. He thought them a wonderful creation, while males were arrogant fools. Respectful and delightful, Jandin was Yana's world--she knew the two would die for each other. Of course, Jandin would give his life for anyone, it was just who he was. This soft tempered compassion was the only reason Mufa let him stay in the pride--the boy would never be a threat to the throne.
Yana could only watch in pity as Ezhno took every opportunity to flaunt father's love to Jandin. Jandin was the alpha's little disapointment who would supposedly never amount to anything. Yana defended him at first, but it soon became clear that Ezhno was very good at showing indifference to females. He would keep talking without stumble, even as she got face to face with him, shouting for him to back off.
On our seven moon birthday, Jandin said his final goodbye.
The boy woke Yana in the night and said they were going on an adventure. Though Yana caught the eariness of the playful words, she ignored it and smiled with acceptance. Oh how that girl loved her Jandin--she'd do anything to please her brother. So the two wandered a good distance off, talking all the way about memories. Yana went on to talk about the future, but the conversation became one sided at that. Jandin began to look at the ground and Yana soon realized they were no longer in the pride territory. Silence swam between them for a long distance before they came to a ledge. Yana grew uneasy as her brother stared over the cliff. Finally, he faced her with a gentle smile. "You know I love you, my Yana. But I love daddy and Ez, too. They don't want me around no more, Ezzy said so. Tell mama I'm sorry but a boys gotta please his father and brother--it's the omega male's way."
He walked off the cliff without a sound.
Yana stared over the edge for hours, shocked and unsure of what had just happened. Daybreak came, the sun licking at the horizon. As the beams pierced into Yana's vision, recapturing her attention to reality, she hung over the edge in horror. Screaming, the girl ran back to her home. There she found both Mufa and Ezhno on the outskirts of the territory. The two startled as the small girl nearly collided, tears streaming down her face. Babbling, she explained what happened. At the end, she looked between the two as the exchanged blank expressions. "Yeah, okay, go tell the females so they don't get kilt looking for the rat." They continued on and Yana began to understand why Jandin had did what he did. Her father and brother really hadn't given an antelope horn about him.
The following night Yana didn't get privelaged any sleep then, either. Murder Apes bounded in and shot off their weapons. Yana watched the lioness' and Mufa fight them back as best they could. But they were all slaughtered, and every cub crated. The cubs of other lioness', Ezhno, and even Yana.
Yana never imagined seeing her brother again as she was shipped to a land named Virginia. Nor did she wish to. In a non-direct sense, he had murdered her beloved Jandin. But after a couple moons, she adapted to her new captive home. She was blessed to be given to a truly wonderful household with acres of fenced land that they let her roam without restraint. She spents years here without complaint, even making friends with the large dog they had, Beast. The two could not clearly understand the other's language at first, but they slowly began to learn from each other. When alone, Yana would wonder why she had felt such a strong bond on meeting that dog--the dog was a canine relica of Jandin. As that set in, the feline dropped into a deep depression. After several years of happy captivity, the Murder Apes began to believe maybe their precious feline missed her own kind. They knew big cats were beginning to make home in the lands, so they took her far away and released her. The girl became more depressed after this, having lost her second form of Jandin.
It didn't take long for the name Ezhno to reach her. Loner cats of her species, and even those outside her kind, knew Ezhno's reputation. It soon became Yana's mission to save her brother's soul, but word had it the male had no recolection of anything from his homeland, besides their father. This fed the fire in Yana's stomach, giving her more motivation to make Ezhno feel grief over the brother he'd help kill. Only when he regretted it would he began a transformation for the better. But fear keeps Yana from walsing over to the Akando pride, demanding to see the alpha. She is brave, but what good is she to Ezhno if she's dead?
Word has it Ezhno had a tendency to simply kill those who trespassed, unless they caught him in the rare good mood.
Yanamai found Ezhno as he was about to war an innocent pride. She sided against him but could not bare to watch him battle so she ran off and has not conjured up the courage to go to Akando and see if her brother died on those battlegrounds.
Yanamai has since found South, and lost her faith in Dio. Her fascination has switched on over to Bokor, a new promise.
